Project 54

Kleenex

43. Social- Matchy Matchy

Notion-  I’m one of those people who has to match; it’s almost to the point that I’m OCD about it. This past sesmester I had a bulk of Kleenex around in all its different forms. I found that I could even match the Kleenex packs to my outfits and vice versa. There are so many different designs that there was always one that appealed to me on a different day and occasions. The different packages also make it more fun to share tissues because the designs are a topic of discussion. Social!

44. Social- Real or Natural Test

Notion-  I wanted to do a spin on one of the uses of Kleenex we talked about, stuffing. I came up with this concept that a guy would take his date to go see a chick flick, which would cause her to cry. After the movie we can notice a significant difference with her… and how her clothes fit. Dates = social occasions

40. No directive- Howard Hughes and Kleenex shoes.

Notion-  I was talking to my cousin about this project and she directed me to look up Howard Hughes. He was an American business magnate, investor, aviator, engineer, film producer, director, and philanthropist.  Hughes suffered from a mental illness that caused him to develope interesting habits, including wearing Kleenex shoes to protect himself from germs and provide comfort. I tried to wear Kleenex shoes but my feet were too big. I don’t understand how he managed to get his foot in a box because my feet aren’t even that big. I did not find wearing these shoe comfortable…

39. No directive- Parachute

Notion- The flexible and light material of tissue seemed to be a good material to make a toy soldier a parachute but it wasn’t… and we suffered several casualties. Kleenex is better at catching tears and materials than guiding them safely to the ground…

38. Time- Kleenex Hero

Notion-  The Boogey monster was one of my greatest fears as a child. I remember hating to blow my nose when I was a kid so I wanted to appeal to that aspect of tissue. Tissues remind me of capes and inspired me to make a superhero around that. Kleenex man would tackle the Booger Monster and other viruses that Kleenex can cure. It’s hilarious how much time has passed since those elementary days but how boogers are still one of the first things I think of when I think Kleenex.

37. Time- Baby Onesie

Notion- A friend has been preparing for her first baby and had her baby shower last month. While we were thinking of favors to make for the party and I sat there folding Kleenex.  This Kleenex onsie is one of the favors she passed out at her shower. The Kleenex stands for a lot of the qualities babies are: fresh, innocent and pure.

36. Time- Pass the Kleenex

Notion- Sharing isn’t one of my favorite things to do but it’s a large part of Kleenex’s slogan. If sharing was more fun then maybe more of us would do it. This Kleenex car would make sharing more fun and beneficial by saving time as you pass the box.

35. Time- Mario uses Kleenex

Notion- The Mario Brothers are recognizable icons in American households. Yoshi, although meant to be a helpful tool can sometimes be a pest, or a “little booger.” This scene I made displays Kleenex boxes as the power up boxes on a level of Mario Brothers. This classic game is a timeless piece of American culture.
